Life’s messy and so are the stories. We believe the best stories aren’t the polished “highlight reels”, they’re the messy, REAL moments that make us who we are.

Messy Mic is an interactive storytelling experience where anything can happen. Granny Talk is our debut series that highlights the voices of a generation too often overlooked. In giving seniors the mic, we’re creating more intergenerational connection before these rich stories are lost. 

We blend curated stories with audience interaction, a wildcard storyteller, and a post-show mixer to wrap up our community experience. 

PRE-SELECTED GRANNIES: Live podcast-styled storytelling with discussion between each other AND with the audience. 

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION: The mic opens during Q&A, but only if you volunteer. Drop your name at intermission for a chance to share your messy on-themed story at the end!

POST-SHOW SOCIAL MIXER: After the 2 hour show, we wind down with an OPTIONAL 1 hour social mixer to connect with the community! Lightly facilitated with optional prompts & social games to encourage you to meet the grannies and new people.

AGE MINIMUM: 18+ but must be 21+ to drink. If you are a parent or guardian interested in allowing a minor (under 18) to attend with you, please submit request directly to help@messymic.com.

PARKING: Street parking and garages nearby. Ample public parking at garage a block away at “Santa Monica Structure #5”. Open 24/7 with the first 90 minutes free and goes up $2-4/hour.

ACCESSIBILITY: Limited wheelchair accessible seating, but full front row has zero steps, and plenty of 1-2 step only seating. Please email help@messymic.comif there are any other accessibility needs or questions.

FOOD/DRINKS: Please eat before! Unfortunately, kitchen is not open on Tuesdays. No outside food or beverages are allowed. Venue will serve both alcoholic and NA drinks.

COMMUNITY GUIDELINES: Messy Mic is a space for everyone. But most importantly, it’s a safe space for connection and respect. We ask that all attendees contribute to a welcoming, inclusive environment. Disruptive or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.

REFUNDS/EXCHANGES: We get it, life happens! We offer self-serviced ticket refunds (minus booking fee) up to 5 days before the event. After that, tickets are non-refundable, but you’re welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend. We can also add this ticket to our giveaways and surprise a random community member with the ticket.
