About our Performers
Greg VanHolsbeck
Greg VanHolsbeck has been fascinated with magic and illusion since he discovered a Marshall Brodien magic kit at ten years old.
As a shy, quiet kid he was by no means a “born entertainer” or the life of the party, but this fascination quickly turned to an obsession as Greg collected piles of books and absorbed everything he could on the subject of prestidigitation.
Fifteen years later, VanHolsbeck has made a career out of his obsession by creating his own opportunities in Southern California.
His one-man show “Handcrafted Mysteries” has appeared in numerous locations, including it’s current weekly residency at The Claremont Forum Bookstore. The show is highly interactive and features Greg’s original pieces of magic.
Greg believes in bringing innovation and creativity to the art of magic with every performance.
James Mako
James left home at 17 set on making his own way in the world. He began to travel; seeking life, adventure, and education wherever he could find it. Sneaking into top colleges to take classes on philosophy, psychology, and other topics; even once being thrown out of a mathematics class at Stanford University when the professor learned that he was not a student.
Along the way he searched for and learned from the best sleight of hand artists that he could find, often trading secrets on the way to developing his personal style.
After a few of his scripts began circulating around magic’s inner circles he began writing routines and scripts for other magicians and sleight of hand artists.
Now he is performing his own unique blend of entertainment mixing sleight of hand with poetry, storytelling, and a point of view.
